It happens to be the most visited monument in the world, with an annual tourist rate of around 7 million. Despite its fame in the world, there is still a lot of mysteries that it has yet to reveal. Perhaps, that's a part of the charisma which makes it a top tourist attraction. With a height of 324m to the tip, this colossal masterpiece towers higher than any other structure in Paris. Designed by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 Exposition Universelle, celebration of the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution, it has fundamentally 4 pillars forming a sideways square enclosing an area of about 410 square feet. Petronas Twin Towers

If you have watched the Independence Day 2 movie, you might have seen a set of giant skyscrapers collapsing amid several other tall buildings subject to the same fate. Yes, they are the Petronas Twin Towers.

Situated at the heart of Kuala Lumpur city, the Petronas Twin towers are the tallest twin towers in the world, as of now, and were once(until 2004) the world's tallest buildings. They are still the tallest buildings in Malaysia.

The highest occupied floor is the 58th floor at a height 375m above the ground.

The tower 2 has an observation deck on the 86th floor, which millions of tourists frequent everyday.

Once you get a ticket, all you have to do is take a ride on an elevator to the 86th floor. It'll take some time, but trust me it'll be worth it.

The two steel and glass edifices are connected by a skybridge, 170m above ground. This is a double deck skybridge connecting the 2 towers on the 41st and 42nd floors.

Having a length of 58m, it remains the highest 2 story skybridge in the world.

The view skybridge offers the tourist is spectacular. From there, you can get an aerial view of tower 1 as well as most of the parts of the exquisite maze that is Kuala Lumpur city.

From there, it's only a simple elevator ride to the observation deck. Don't forget to visit both these places.

The Petronas towers are open on all days, from 9AM to 9PM, except on Monday. Ticket sales start as early as 8:30AM, but they are sold on availability so make sure that you get to the concourse level housing the ticketing center as soon as possible.

Once you are done with observing the towers, keep in mind that the fun doesn't end there.

The base of the petronas towers consists of one of the largest shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur city: the Suria KLCC Mall.

There, you can enjoy shopping at international luxury stores with branded fashion items at affordable prices.

Apart from this, there is an art gallery and a  philharmonic orchestra theatre for art fans; For the science fans, there is an underwater aquarium and a science center.

The Petronas Towers are an amazing sight at night with them lit up in white lights. At midnight right when the clock strikes 12:00AM you can see the lights turned off down the height of the building, from top to bottom.

Being one of the top tourist attractions in the world, Petronas Towers is definitely one of the significant items on any traveler's bucket list.
